Fall Fashion Finds for 2016

Fall Fashion Finds

A lot of people get excited for fall because of the weather, changes in the leaves, and pumpkin spice everything. That’s all great, but I’m more excited for the fashion! Is it just me, or do you not love the options you have for fall?! Chunky sweaters, vests, scarfs and hats are some of my favorites and don’t get me started on layering.

The anticipation to wear some of my new additions to my fall wardrobe has been unbearable. I’m sure some of you can relate. I mean, what’s the point of buying new clothes only to leave them sit in the closet unworn?!

Fall florals, corduroy, bohemian vibes, ruffles, lace and shades of red are trending this fall. Naturally I bought a lot of my new pieces during the dead heat of summer because the fashion industry is backwards, but we’ll save that conversation for another post. Kohls, Old Navy, American Eagle, Forever 21 and Nordstrom are where I scored my wardrobe updates with nothing over $50.

What I Wore: Casual Fridays

IMG_6303My Fridays consist of a running errands and other responsibilities that come with adulthood, not very much fun. Comfortability is a must for me when it comes to the most difficult decision of the morning….what to wear! It’s crazy how our outfit can effect your entire mood. If I look good, it definitely makes me feel good. Dressing down and looking stylish can be a challenge. I want to be comfy, but I also don’t want to look like I just rolled out of bed.

Today was one of those days where I felt fabulous and super relaxed in my outfit. You can’t go wrong with an over-sized sweater, boyfriend jeans and converse. View Post

Grammys 2016 Red Carpet: Trends & Looks for Less

The red carpet celebrity arrivals for the 58th Annual Grammy Awards are over, but the fashion talk has just begun. Who was best dressed? Who was worst dressed? Who wore it better? The list of questions goes on and on and is open for debate. But let’s look at the bigger picture and ask, what were the red carpet’s biggest trends?

Sequins. Cut Outs. Slits.

Grammy Trends

These three trends were among a majority of the dresses on the red carpet by celebrities including Selena Gomez, Ciara, Demi Lovato, and Meghan Trainor.

Now my philosophy is always less is more, but some dresses combined multiple elements that just worked. For example, mine and Taylor Swift’s BFF (yeah, I wish!) Selena Gomez. Her dress combined all-over sequins with a subtle side cut outs which complimented each other nicely. I think the positioning of the cut outs were modest while the plunging neckline added some sass to her look. The floor length brought some sophistication while the all-over sequin texture was just the right amount of sparkle to tie it all together. Under the lights of the red carpet, Selena looked fabulous. I could have done without the hoop earrings though girlfriend.

Talk about red carpet chic…Demi Lovato nailed it. An unconventional look for a start-demi-lovato-cfc72a51-2751-414d-9e0d-f76ffded0662studded event, but girlfriend killed it! If only I could pass this suit off at work on a day-to-day basis! The plunging neckline and high slit skirt took the Demi Lovatostandard suit set to a whole other level. The body chain was a nice touch to add edginess. And let’s just take a moment to applaud Demi’s long locks again.

During her tribute performance, Demi sported another blazer with plunging neckline and fitted pants. This outfit highlighted her petite frame and is definitely something I could rock in the office (with a shirt underneath the blazer of course).

I use a blazer as a layering trick to create a smooth and slimmer silhouette. Ladies, you know what I’m talking about…hiding those love handles or bra bulges.

Queen of the side slit, Carrie Underwood did not disappoint on the red carpet. Her toned leg was on display in a tasteful sweetheart floor length gown. She looked absolutely stunning. A side slit can be a bit much but the oversized bow helped to downplay the thigh high slit and add sophistication. This is a gown I can see being worn at the Met Gala. Very chic and elegant Carrie…loved it!

Favorite Fashion Bloggers

This post is dedicated to my #FFBs for Valentine’s Day! What the heck is an #FFB, Kelly?! Favorite Fashion Bloggers!

As a fashion blogger, I love to follow other bloggers for inspiration. Everyone has their own sense of style which I like to feed off for ideas and use my creativity to compile some great posts for my fabulous followers.

When I started blogging almost 6 years ago (time flies!) I wanted to share with my love of fashion and styling with others, but couldn’t compete with other blogs featuring high end clothing and accessories. After all, I was just a broke college kid with bills up the wazoo. Who had money to spend on designer duds?! Certainly not me. But one thing I always prided myself on was creating neat and well put together looks from retail brands that could pass for couture. So hey, that’s when it dawned on me that I could separate myself by focusing on my expertise. And it’s been history ever since! One thing I’ve learned about blogging is that the more genuine you are with your content and what you’re passionate about, the more impact you’ll have on readers.

I have followed these bloggers below for quite some time and admire their style, creativity and enthusiasm about fashion. So…. Happy Valentine’s Day Ladies and thank you for your inspiration!
