Date night can be very stressful for a women. If it’s a first date, you want to make a good impression and pray everything goes well. If it’s your second or third, you’re most likely still nervous about the direction things are going in. If you’re in a relationship and are going out for a romantic dinner or celebrating a special occasion, you want to feel good about how you look and grab your date’s attention. No matter what number date this is, there’s one thing that weighs heavy on every girl’s mind when getting ready for a date: what to wear! Creating the perfect date night outfit has so many different components…or at least it does in a woman’s mind! For more ideas, click here.
Looking sophisticated without seeming boring, looking sexy without revealing too much, looking beautiful without overdoing it…the things that go on in our minds when finding an outfit for date night is insane! (If there are any men reading this post, I hope you can appreciate the things we go through to look good!)
I just celebrated an anniversary with my honey (yay us!) and definitely felt the stress when trying to find the perfect date night outfit. Yes, I’m extremely comfortable around my boyfriend, but I wanted to look extra special for our date.
You can’t go wrong with pants or jeans paired with pumps — no worrying about a gust of wind blowing anything up, no leg chaffing, no accidental crotch shots, and above all, total comfort. My favorite go-to’s are skinny dark denim, faux leather, or fitted slacks. Avoid destroyed denim at all costs — rips and tears in your pants are too casual.
What Did I Wear for My Date Night Outfit?
I wore my Jennifer Lopez Black Skinny Jeans from Kohls which have to be the most comfortable pair of jeans I own. They have stretch to them so I didn’t feel stuffed into them after eating way too much at dinner and are super flattering and slimming.
When wearing skinny jeans or pants, I prefer looser fitting tops to balance out the look. For a more refined look, try a plain blouse and blazer . My top is from Charlotte Russe (Floral Surplice Blouse). The kimono-style sleeves add a chic and feminine flair to the top.
Finding the right pumps is never a problem for me because of my obsession with shoes (just look at my Pinterest board) and I have a pair to go with just about every outfit I own and will own in the future. It’s a real problem….said no girl ever! But I always advise my fellow fashionistas to invest in neutral heels – that way when you’re in a pinch, you always have your go-to pair to match any outfit.
