Are you ready for some football?! Because I am. HERE WE GO STEELERS, HERE WE GO!
I’m a little pumped for the AFC Championship game tonight which may come as a surprise to some because I consider myself a girly girl which usually doesn’t go hand in hand with football.
I love how more women are getting into football and showing support for their team without compromising their fashion sense or femininity. You can still smack talk with the best of them while looking cute which in my book is a double threat.
For all my football lovin’ ladies out there, I compiled my top five fashion football tips for looking fierce while getting into the game.
- Leather is always appropriate
Considering football season is generally in the cooler/colder months, leather is always appropriate when choosing your football outfits. A leather jacket over your jersey or top is an easy way to add some edge to your look. Of course you could go another route and opt for leather pants/leggings which is equally as edgy.
- Heels are an easy way to class up a look
Heels go with anything, which I’m sure you already knew. Nothing says girly girl more than a female rocking some platform pumps in her team’s gear.
- Don’t go overboard with logos. Have one piece of spirit wear as a focal point and style
Stick to one logo in your outfit choice. For example, if your logo is on a jersey or printed top, then pair it with solid bottoms such as jeans or leggings. If your pants are the focal point like these printed leggings (adore these!), pair it with a solid top.
- Blazers over jerseys are super chic
A ruched blazer over a jersey is so feminine and also a bit intimidating if you ask me. It shows that your have love for your team, but also that you mean business.
If football themed apparel isn’t your thing, accessories are the next best thing. Hats, scarves, jewelry, nail art, shoes, the list goes on and on. You can certainly accessorize your football jerseys and apparel, but don’t go over the top.
Female spirit wear has certainly come a long way with celebrity collaborations with the NFL to offer more feminine apparel like Touch by Alyssa Milano. Adding rhinestones, sequins, glitter, and pin
k to everything certainly does add a feminine touch to manly looking jerseys, but for the fashion conscious, it’s not enough.
Is there a law against mixing football spirit wear with fashion trends? Didn’t think so. So why not take this fashion crisis into our own hands and make football fashion more feminine!!! Are you with me ladies?!
